The general questions
What exactly is Fontrova?
A set of twelve browser tools that rewrite what you type into styled Unicode characters. There is no software to install and no font to download; the output is text, which is why it survives being pasted into apps that offer no formatting of their own.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no registration, no login and no email capture anywhere on the site. Open a tool, use it, close the tab.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, and most people use it that way. The tools are built mobile-first, and copying is a single tap. The styled result behaves identically whether you generated it on a phone or a desktop.
Is there a limit on how much I can convert?
None on our side. You can style as many words, names or captions as you like, as often as you like. Any limit you hit belongs to the place you are pasting into.
Do you keep what I type?
No. Conversion happens on your own device inside the browser. Your text is never transmitted to us, so there is nothing for us to store, log or lose.
Why does my text look different on someone else’s phone?
Because their device draws the characters using whatever fonts it has installed. Two phones can render the identical string differently, and an older device may show a placeholder box where it has no glyph at all.
Can I use the output commercially?
Yes. These are standard Unicode characters, not licensed font files, so nothing here restricts how you use the result, in a shop name, a product listing or a client’s profile.
Do the tools work with languages other than English?
Only partially, and it is worth knowing why. The Unicode style ranges these tools draw on were designed around the Latin alphabet and digits, so text in other scripts passes through mostly unchanged rather than being styled.
Which tool should I open first?
The Font Generator on the front page carries the entire library and suits most jobs. Reach for a narrower tool when the job is narrower: a name, a digit, or a specific platform with a character limit.
